Course Layout Designed for Playability and Precision

Santa Ana Golf Club is made up of three distinct nine-hole courses: Tamaya, Cheena, and Star.  Each offers its own challenges while blending seamlessly into the desert landscape.  Designed by Ken Killian and Ken Green, the course emphasizes accuracy over power, with carefully placed bunkers, water hazards, and rolling terrain that rewards smart strategy.  Wide fairways accommodate golfers of varying skill levels, while undulating greens test even experienced players.  The multiple tee boxes also allow the course to play anywhere from under 5,000 yards to over 7,300 yards, making it suitable for a wide range of players.

A Host to Tournaments and High-Level Competition

Santa Ana has long been recognized as a competitive venue.  It has hosted professional and amateur tournaments, including events on the PGA Tour’s Korn Ferry circuit.  The fair test of golf and consistent playing conditions make it a reliable choice for organizers and players alike.  Even when not hosting events, the club maintains tournament-level standards in its course upkeep, tight lies, smooth greens, and well-raked bunkers are the norm here.

Amenities Designed with Purpose

Beyond the course itself, Santa Ana Golf Club includes a driving range, short game area, and putting greens that make it easy to warm up or fine-tune your skills.  The on-site pro shop is fully stocked with top brands, and the professional staff provides custom fittings and lessons for those looking to improve their game.  The clubhouse features The Prairie Star Restaurant, which serves up a refined dining experience inside a restored adobe building, offering meals rooted in regional flavors.

Connection to the Land and Local Community

One of the unique elements of Santa Ana Golf Club is its connection to the Santa Ana Pueblo.  The course was developed with a strong respect for the surrounding environment and the cultural heritage of the Tamayame people.  Portions of the land still feature native vegetation, wildlife corridors, and views of the Sandia Mountains, reinforcing the area’s natural identity.  Profits from the course support the Pueblo’s economic development, education, and cultural programs, so every round played has a direct impact.

Access and Location That Work for Locals and Visitors

Located just north of Albuquerque and west of the Rio Grande, the course is easily accessible from both Santa Fe and Albuquerque.  It’s a practical choice for those staying at the nearby Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort, which partners with the club to offer golf packages and shuttle service.  The club is also open to the public, with competitive rates and a variety of memberships for those who play frequently.

A Course That Delivers Value and Lasting Impressions

Santa Ana Golf Club stands out for its thoughtful design, consistent course conditions, and cultural grounding.  It’s not just a place to play golf, it’s a destination that reflects the land and people who created it.  Whether you’re there for a quick nine or a full day of golf and dining, it’s the kind of course that leaves a clear impression and keeps players coming back.
